Real Heritage Home in Kumarakom, kottayam, kerala - Tharavad heritage Home

More than 120 years old traditional Kerala house with warm welcome to the guest. It has an air of old world charm to it which is heightened by details like four-paneled doors, wooden ceilings and even a special flooring that keeps the home naturally cool. The home has two deluxe bedrooms that are bedecked with period furniture and are spacious enough to house small families. The home also has two standard bedrooms that are cosy and convenient. All rooms are fully stocked and efficiently managed by the friendly staff. The sprawling living room is embellished with traditional artefact's. And the dining room affords a view of the big backyard. A wide backwater canal flows parallel to the home stay and is just a few feet away.

The room was really nice and the best part of it was the balcony that overlooked a very lush garden. We saw more birds from our balcony than at the Bird Sanctury!

The staff, Alex the owner was very friendly and so happy to help with anything- they even gave us passion fruits from the tree outside the reception.
The food that was cooked freshly and it was the best Indian food we have had in our 1 month trip in India! The breakfast was better than any 5* hotels in Delhi or Mumbai. The staff , especially Chris, were really friendly and professional.

We woke up early every morning, as there is a temple in front- but that is their religion and we have to respect it- the earplugs did the job perfectly fine.
